Olympic dressage rider William Matthew will bring a talented 5-year-old horse that was very stressed at the stallion performance test and has been gelded afterwards. Tristan will showcase how to help his horse become more relaxed.
Tristan will be joined by top trainer Morten Thomson (trainer of Jessica von Bredow-Werndl) and together they discuss the current system of competitions and what needs to change.
Setting a new standard for young horse competitions. A competition that focuses on giving a young horse a good first experience at a competition. Several professional riders will showcase the new test.
TRT Live 2025 was held in the Netherlands on March 19. The event was sold out and received a lot of positive responses.

What are our young horses learning from their first experiences at a young horse competition?
The aim of the TRT Young Talent Competition is to optimally prepare young horses for a positive experience at their first show.
The tests have been designed to set up young horses for a long and healthy career in sport.
But also to give the riders the opportunity to have a different focus and to be rewarded for creating a positive experience for their horse in the ring.
During the event, I’ll explain what the set up is of the competition and why this is so important for young horses.
To develop and organize this competition, TRT method joined with the team from Pluvinel Young Talent Competition, a very popular yearly young horse show held in the Netherlands.
