In this blog, I explain how to handle horses that push into your space or lack spatial awareness.👇

Creating spatial awareness

By focusing on clear body language, you can guide your horse to understand where he shouldn’t be, allowing him to make better decisions without creating conflict.

It’s important to use soft, progressive pressure and project energy in a way that builds trust, improves communication, and ensures safety for both you and your horse.

Maintaining Clarity

When you step back or allow your radius to shrink, your horse learns that he can move into that space without consequences, which can lead to confusion and pushiness.

It’s natural to want to adjust or compensate when your horse pushes, but this sends mixed signals.

Instead, keep your radius consistent and make it clear that it’s your horse’s responsibility to move out of your space.

For example, if you’re working from the side and he runs into the stick, it’s his job to adjust—not yours.

By staying clear and fair with your signals, you help your horse understand where he should be.
