A lot of people only start working with their horses once they’ve reached the age of 3.
In the meantime, they let them be ‘horses’.
But what that means is that you let your horse figure everything out by himself. And he’ll only have his natural instinct to rely on.
However, you want to prepare your foal for all the things he will experience in his young life.
So he doesn’t have to rely on his survival instinct which involves a lot of fear and stress.

Generally, foals haven’t had a lot of interactions with humans yet. When I approach a foal for our first training session, I keep that in mind. I’ll explain how I achieve the first connection.
The first haltering and leading can be quite a challenge. I’ll show you how I approach haltering horses of all ages, from young foal to weaned yearling.
For young horses, going to the farrier is quite the experience. In this module, I explain how I teach my horses everything they need to know so they can be the perfect student for my farrier.
