My young horse was beginning to give me some attitude troubles that I wanted to “nip in the bud” before they became a problem. I also wanted to give my horse as much education as possible, so he can be confident and happy as he grows up. On a personal note, my horse is very tall (17.3h) and a big mover. I am only 5’6. I want to be safe on and around him and I want to have the confidence to take him to new situations without fear. In short, I want to have fun with my horse and I want him to have a rich and interesting life.
After going through the online training, my horse trusts me more and follows me so much more willingly. Small issues around leading have melted away. I have owned him since he was 3 (almost two years) and have felt that our bond has really solidified through working with the program. I have always enjoyed my horse, but the pleasure we take in being together in all aspects is much greater now.
It has also given me more confidence because I have tools to deal with most situations. It is a self perpetuating thing- I am more relaxed and confident because I know what to do and he in turn is more relaxed and confident because of this. The successes build on each other quite quickly from this place.
I had a problem with trailer loading before I started the program. It wasn’t a long time problem, but an issue that worried me nonetheless because of a bad experience. I did trailer training with him the other day and was thrilled at how well he did. I kept marveling in disbelief at how well the program works while I was able to control all his footsteps getting on and off the trailer. My husband (who hasn’t seen any of the training before) was very impressed by the whole thing. The program has given me a sense that anything is possible if I approach it intelligently!
Teaching the patterns in module 1 was a bit tricky at first and I had to study the videos several times to make sure I was doing it properly and really understood what I was looking for. It took about two weeks for us to get it with consistency and a few more so I could see that he/we really understood it. But it wasn’t like rocket science, it was just practice until both of us got the hang of it. Now it is just part of they way we do things all the time.
I will use this program with any horse I am working with in the future. (By the way, I love the bonus videos and want to see more!)
