general spookiness

I have a spooky horse, she can make a 180 at any moment and g-forces sometimes get the better of me. I have learned how to get more control and what to do when we have to go passed a scary object. It has helped my horse, but even more me. TRT doesn’t only make my horse know what to do, I also know what to do. I have taken her out for a ride outside our arena, something I wouldn’t have done before. She has more courage and will even go in front on a long rein. We are still working on the sudden scary things and her reaction to that also getting back to relax modus after building up to much tension when ridden. We are getting there 🙂
They usually ask why the steps of module 1 are not asked as you would do with ground work when doing “klassiek or Academisch grondwerk”. (no side reins or not using the back properly). And they can respond rather skeptical when I bring the flag and bags etc in to the arena. Some people still believe using a lot of pressure to make the horse go passed an object is the correct way.
I don’t find it difficult to watch the movies at home, and then practice the day after. There is no one to correct me or help me when I get stuck. Tristan explains it very well and talks you through all the things he does and why, but the steps are natural for him and sometimes I get stuck during a training and have to watch the movie again, holding my horse.
Even though there is no 1 on 1 guiding the steps are easy to follow and Tristan explains every thing very clearly. I mainly profit from the TRT method with riding and having to go passed objects or corners.
